Despites D.C.’s high rate of jobless between April and May ofthis year, D.C. reporter a rise in employment by 2,800, with payroll numbersz in its government sector increasinvby 900. That data is also seasonally adjustedf byBLS economists. Michigan, whicyh lost 23,900 jobs between Aprikl and May, held the nation’s highest unemploymenf rate of 14.1 percent. North Dakotas and Nebraska both postedr the lowest unemployment rate inthe nation, at 4.4 percent.
