NCR refutes criticism from Ohio officials - Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal:

The (NYSE: NCR) when Dayton-area and Ohio leaders trief to contact the company about rumors it wasleavinhg town, saying NCR often did not returnb calls or e-mails. NCR issued a statement Wednesday, statintg its side of things and implying its level of interaction with locak and state officials was misrepresented byarea “We have met regularly with state of Ohio and Daytoh officials to discuss the business environmentr and NCR’s requirements. The decision was not made solely onsingler factors, such as financiap incentives. It was based on a very careful and comprehensivew situation analysis of our employment centers usintg independent thirdparty data,” according to NCR.
“The broad rangwe of criteria used for the revie of the locations includedavailable infrastructure, incentives given, the governmentr tax structure and benefits to NCR employees, future employees and stakeholders.” Companyu spokespeople would not provide specifics of meetingsa with government officials and refused to discloswe when their analysis began or where Ohio rankedd in that analysis. The statement comes after officialss from the city of Montgomery County and Ohio gathered on the footstepds of the Old Court House in downtown Dayton Tuesdah toslam NCR. Lt. Gov.
Lee Fisher said the NCR standsefor “No opportunity to Communicate or and officials joined in by telling reporters that all theif efforts to engage the company durinfg the past two years were rebuked. Fisher said NCR was one of the firsgt companiesOhio Gov. Ted Strickland and he reachedr out to when electedin 2007. Despiter numerous overtures, the first time Strickland actually talkex to Nuti was on the eve of therelocation announcement, Fisher said. Nan Whaley, Dayton city accused the company of failing to convet itstrue intentions.
City officials laid out a timetablde they say shows the company was not as responsive the requests for meetings as it should have According to the cityof Dayton: In October 2008, Dayton officials requested a meeting with the highest ranking local NCR officials, but that was denie d by NCR. • In January the city tried to geta meeting, but was unable to. In February, county, city and state officiale had a meeting with thres company officialsin Dayton.
They were supposed to meet with Chieft Executive OfficerBill Nuti, but he did not • On April 20, a meetinh with state, county and city officials took placre with NCR officials, which was a pre-meetingt for another planned April • NCR canceled the second Aprilo meeting and rescheduled for May. • NCR then canceleds the May meeting. Dayton did not providwe meeting dates prior toOctober 2008.
